How to Get Out of a Rut in Life - 5 Questions You Need to Answer

Getting out of a rut isn’t optional if you want to live a fulfilling and significant life! Knowing what questions to ask yourself can help get you started on the path to breaking out of your rut, so here are some of our favorites (we highly recommend writing down your answers):
  1. If you had a magic wand and could change one thing about your life, what would it be?
  2. What is holding you back from making the changes you want in your life? Make a list.
  3. Where could you go that would help you break out of your routine - even for an afternoon? Do you need some peace and quiet, or a little adventure?
  4. If nothing were holding you back, what kind of life would you want? Where would you live? What would you do? Who would you spend time with? How would you hope to make a difference in the world?
  5. Write down your thoughts and dreams. Which dreams matter to you most? When you come to the end of your life, which ones do you really hope you will have accomplished? Choose the dreams that matter most to you, and ask yourself why they are important to you.
Bonus Questions:

  1. What are the greatest sources of stress in your life?
  2. What are you most grateful for?
  3. What are the most important relationships in your life?
  4. What are the most meaningful activities you would like to focus on in the next year?
  5. What are the core beliefs you would like to build on in the next year?
  6. What are the most important things you would like to eliminate from your life in the next year?
